Extra Information n 2003 Microtech Gefell produced a limited run of UM75 variable polar pattern tube microphones. Only 75 of these were produced, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the George Neumann Company in Berlin in 1928 and are modern replicas of the classic Neumann U57 valve mic.
For sale here are No. 6 and No. 13, which were bought as a close matched pair. They come in individual aluminium flight cases complete with suspension, power supply, and multiway cable. Also included is a certificate of authenticity signed by the sons of the original partners Erich Kühnas and Mr Drechsler who together with Georg Neumann, set up the Neumann factory in Gefell in 1942.
These microphones are hand assembled, having the classic M7 diaphragm manufactured from liquid PVC, as originally designed and constructed in 1928.
They have a grey Hammerite paint finish with a bright nickel capsule grill and locking ring around the multi-way connector. A serial number plate with the unique serial number stamped on it is riveted to the back of the mic body.
Both of these microphones are original cherished mics which sound glorious. They are in perfect condition and come with official certification. Always stored in their cases in dry conditions and used for music and voice recordings, they having been owned by me from new. A signed letter (dated 29th November 2007) from Microtech Gefell sales office will be included in this sale as proof of authenticity.
As these microphones are limited to just 75 worldwide, they are becoming increasingly rare and only come onto the market occasionally. Having retired I am no longer using them and so they need to be passed on to another professional sound recordist who will use and cherish them.
Although these mics are no longer listed on the Gefell website, there are many other references to them on the web.
I would prefer to sell them as a pair, but am willing to consider selling them individually. |
